Talinna and Turku – European Capital of Culture for 2011

Travelling enlarge the mind and brings new ideas. I was visiting quickly in Talinna and spend one night at Hotel Olümpia.

The boat ride from Helsinki to Tallinn takes only two hours and while I was getting back, the weather was good and it was interesting to watch storm fronts from the deck. You can see the storm behind me.

I was living in hotel 12 floor and I know some of the folks scare the 13th floor so it was funny to see it was marked with the diamond sign in the elevator.

Tallinn is situated on the southern coast of the Gulf of Finland, in north-western Estonia and it is a global city and has been listed among the top 10 digital cities in the world. The city is a European Capital of Culture for 2011, along with Turku, Finland. The European Capital of Culture is a city designated by the European Union for a period of one calendar year during which it organises a series of cultural events with a strong European dimension.

The trip was enjoyable, and I thank you for the invitation.
