Lapland University of Applied Sciences

I am studying now at Lapland University of Applied Sciences and I have to say I love it.

I have to say I am a bit surprised that before I start to my study I was worried that I lost my way to do art. Now I can say that is never going to happened and I have just get more tools to express myself.

There is a reason

There is so many reason why I stop to write to this blog but some years ago it help me to understand why I love art 🙂 and it really open my dusty mind again.

I was lost, sad, angry and unhappy but now I feel just opposite way. So it is time to open my mind (and this blog) again so I will write here more after I move to new home with love of my life.

I have allways love playing with light and shadows

There are dark shadows on the earth, but its lights are stronger in the contrast.

Painting The beautiful road of two souls (include video)

The beautiful road of two souls-770

This is my first painting with real life couple and it brings its own interesting twists to the end result.

Bodies represent life, purity and the world but this time the ropes reflect human personalities.
Other is spontaneous and does things without thinking consequences and other is more “voice of reason”.

I think they are soul mates and lovely couple.

Why president Obama is the white man?

So, I was talking a bit my incoming Art Exhibition and the main idea, or main concept behind it.
The “Art is passion exhibition” tell a stories about passion, love and anti-racism.

First, I feel a bit funny that nobody asked me “why the Gandhi is a white man?” and second, the color of your skin don’t define what kind of man you are, the how you act or behave tell more about you; and what kind of man you are.

Anyway, there are a lots of more stories behind the whole concept, but I will post some pictures after the show is up and running so you can make your own art definitions.

Costa Concordia oil painting

Originally I planned paint just the front mask of the ship but that would not honor the happening and scale of sorrow.

In the painting there is a souls flying to heaven, the ship is painfully close to the beach and someone – maybe it’s the captain itself from the roof of the house and looking calm what is happening.
He is not even planning to go rescue the peoples.

It’s time to party – Finland Independence Day

Finland’s Independence Day is a national public holiday held on 6 December to celebrate Finland’s declaration of independence from the Russian Empire.

Independence Day was first celebrated in 1919. However, during the first years of independence, the 6th of December was in some parts of Finland only a minor holiday compared to 16 May, which was the day of celebration for the Whites who prevailed in the Finnish Civil War.

It is traditional for many Finnish families to light two candles in each window of their home in the evening. This custom dates to the 1920s, but even earlier, candles had been placed in windows on the birthday of poet Johan Ludvig Runeberg as a silent protest against perceived Russian oppression. A popular legend has it that two candles were used as a sign to inform young men on their way to Sweden and Germany to become jägers that the house was ready to offer shelter and keep them hidden from the Russians.

FINLAND

The land area that now makes up Finland was settled immediately after the Ice Age, beginning from around 8500 BCE. Most of the region was part of the Kingdom of Sweden from the 13th century to 1809, when it was ceded to the Russian Empire, becoming the autonomous Grand Duchy of Finland. The Lutheran religion dominated. Finnish nationalism emerged, focused on Finnish cultural traditions, including music and especially its highly distinctive language. The catastrophic Finnish famine of 1866–1868 was followed by eased economic regulation and extensive emigration.

In 1917, Finland declared independence. A civil war between the Finnish Red Guards and the White Guard ensued a few months later with the “Whites” gaining the upper hand. After the internal affairs stabilized, the still mainly agrarian economy grew relatively fast. Relations with the West, especially Sweden and Britain, were strong but tensions remained with the Soviet Union. During the Second World War, Finland fought twice against the Soviet Union, but lost and had to cede most of Karelia to the USSR. It remained an independent democracy but was forced to stay neutral during the Cold War (1947-1991), a status called finlandization.

This is something I did a month ago. Still feel it miss some details but it is interesting how different peoples see it different way.
